Nina Palmer, Postpartum Certified Doula (DONA)
A recent New York Times article, Everyone Should Have a Postpartum Doula, sums it up well… Bringing your new baby home is wonderful and often overwhelming. My goal is to ease your transition into “The Fourth Trimester” by offering guidance to help you feel confident in your instincts as a new parent.
New families need nurturing and gentle support. Focusing on mom’s needs and helping both parents develop confidence in their parenting skills is my priority. I share techniques for newborn care, feeding, soothing and bathing. I also help to ease your older child’s transition to his/ her new role in the family.
There are many good ways to care for babies although with input from the internet, parents, and friends it can be confusing. I will help you get the information you need to make wise choices. While I am always willing to share my experience on any question you might have, my goal is to be helpful in a quiet, pleasant, and unobtrusive way, and be respectful of the traditions, culture and values of your family.
